Increasing employment opportunities for young people through our Career Ready Mentorship Programme in Uganda.
Our team in Uganda is running a Career Ready Mentorship Programme to equip emerging professionals with the confidence, skills, and knowledge required to achieve their life and career goals.
Working together with the College of Engineering, Design, Art, and Technology at Makerere University, Uganda we have offered career mentorship to six students pursuing Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management qualifications.
We engaged the students through several activities both virtually and in person, utilising our digital tools through online Microsoft Teams lectures, one-on-one mentorship sessions, essay writing and presentation training.
Career mentorship was provided by three cost managers and three project managers selected from our offices in Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya.
The students also had an opportunity to meet with our country director at a final dinner to mark the completion of the programme and recognise their successful participation.
Vicent Mutabazi, a candidate of the mentorship programme, said:
The programme was a great introduction for me on how to transition from the study environment to the work environment, providing relevant insights on the expectations of the workplace. Through interactions with the Turner & Townsend team, I better understand what skills, knowledge, and mindset I require to succeed in my career.
The Career Ready Mentorship Programme in Uganda is part of our ongoing commitment to the communities in which we operate.
