In 2016, we launched a pledge campaign to encourage all our people to make a commitment to contribute to their local community. There was an excellent response from our global business; we received over 500 pledges to share expertise, raise money or volunteer with community initiatives.
Our Kuala Lumpur team committed to work with local schools and held a maths workshop, while in Bangalore volunteers came together to construct a play gym for a local school. In the UK, our people have been delivering on commitments to support our schools programme and youth mentoring schemes.
Abigail Giljum, Associate Director in our Abu Dhabi office, committed to improve young people’s employability and used her corporate volunteer day to mentor a group of female UAE national university students through a business plan competition.
The community pledge campaign resonated with me as it offered a real opportunity to make a contribution. It showed there are always ways to get involved that make a real impact on our communities, which in turn are very rewarding for us.
"I believe we all have a responsibility to help one another using the resources we have available."
We will continue to showcase how people across the business are making an impact on our local communities to inspire more action across the world.
