Our Netherlands team is inspiring children and young people from socio-economically challenged neighbourhoods in Amsterdam to develop their life and career aspirations. This year we helped 70 young people discover what’s involved in the world of work and the opportunities available to develop rewarding careers with our charity partner, JINC.
Forty people from our Netherlands office dedicated 300 volunteer hours to an all-day employability workshop. The workshop engaged young people in CV and job applications, mock interviews, project management and career pathways.
We also set a construction challenge to give the school students a true insight into our industry. The students worked in small groups with Turner & Townsend volunteers to understand the components of a real construction assignment and how to prepare project execution plans.
The enthusiasm we have for our company opened the students’ eyes to the opportunities offered by our industry and hopefully inspired some future CEOs.
Luke Bartolo, Netherlands Country Manager, commented:
We are determined to empower young people to raise their aspirations and achieve their goals. By helping school students experience different types of work and discover what employers are looking for when they recruit, we provide a valuable insight that we hope gives the students a boost for the next phase of their studies and career.
"The enthusiasm we have for our company opened the students’ eyes to the opportunities offered by our industry and hopefully inspired some future CEOs. It’s been very rewarding for our entire Netherlands team. We’re all proud to continue our partnership with JINC and I look forward to supporting more young people with employability workshops and work experience days."
Ray Tulleken, Project Manager at JINC, added:
The partnership with Turner & Townsend is noteworthy, as they've been creating opportunities for young people through their collaboration with us for eight years, and help them develop important skills by participating in our projects.
