Project Compassion Movement, Philippines

We continue to support equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all by partnering with charities dedicated to education.

Supporting education opportunities for all

Our Philippines business has partnered with Project Compassion in Tarlac to support the reading literacy programme Likha Pagasa. This name means ‘create hope’, and the programme enables disadvantaged children in the Philippines to meet their educational needs.

Our team drove over 200 kilometres to visit five public schools and hold educational activities to help raise the reading literacy of children from grade two to grade six. This initiative supports the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) to provide quality education for all, one of four SDGs prioritised in our corporate-responsibility approach.

Providing for children in local communities

We raised critical funds for the distribution of 3,340 books and reading tutorial materials, three sessions and snacks, school kits with notebooks, plus pens and writing pads for children from five public schools in the Tarlac Province.

The schools are located in different towns about 200 kilometres from our Philippines office in Makati City, Metro Manila.

Promoting ambition and lifelong learning

Our team conducted storytelling sessions for children at the visited schools, and shared inspiring anecdotes about their life journey to encourage them to continue their learning journey.

By removing barriers to quality education, we are supporting children and young people from trying circumstances, helping them to reach their full potential while encouraging them to consider positions in our industry.
