As a growing business, we are using our increased influence to lead our industry transformation and the next generation of talent to build a world fit to face the challenges of tomorrow.
As a result, we are nurturing inspirational leaders who are able to cultivate an environment that encourages team innovation and collaboration. In addition, we enable and support our people to use their expertise externally to lead our industry to better benefit society.
Noluthando Molao, an Associate Director in our South African business, has won numerous awards over the years as a female leader in construction (UN SDG 5: Gender Equality).
We asked Noluthando about her approach to talent and leadership development in South Africa.
I see Turner & Townsend playing a leading role in providing solutions for planning and delivering much-needed public sector projects in South Africa, supporting the transformation of the country.
“But we can only do this by developing our people, and there are four key ways we are doing this: firstly by building strong, technically competent, diverse and talented teams to meet the government’s ambitions."
“Second, using our expertise to mentor women and black –owned small, micro and medium sized enterprises (SMMEs) to gain access to markets and become part of the mainstream economy as part of our supplier development programme which has supported 87 organisations to date."
“Third, leading the discussion in industry bodies: I serve on the Council for the Built Environment (CBE) and the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP), both of which aim to promote the sector."
“Finally, training interns and graduates from previously disadvantaged communities, building future strength in our employment pool. Entry level positions in South Africa have achieved a 50:50 gender split for several years now”.
Success is the art of creating functional teams. We are on a journey to create an enabling environment that encourages diverse teams to thrive.
“It is this diversity that makes the difference in driving innovative solutions.”
