Senior Vice President, San Francisco
With San Francisco's real estate landscape constantly evolving, we need to embrace innovation in programme management to meet the future needs of the built environment here.
I started my career as a Quantity Surveyor in 2011 and have steadily developed a diverse skillset in programme and cost and commercial management, achieving Chartered status in 2017 with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. During this time, I gained experience working on major water infrastructure upgrades to real estate projects in the UK and was entrusted as one of six commercial leads for a framework within the Department of Health.
I joined our business in 2018 by taking up an amazing opportunity to relocate to New York to support our US team for a growing tech client and lead a global pre-construction team for data centres. Having developed my sector experience further, I relocated to the UK in late 2020 for the role of leading global programme controls for another data centre client. I then returned to the US in 2022 to take up the helm of one of our largest clients globally and oversee a talented team across North America. This leadership experience helped prepare me to become our San Francisco lead in 2024, along with being appointed Partner in our leadership structure.
Q. How has your career at Turner and Townsend developed?
A. Joining Turner & Townsend afforded me the opportunity to relocate to the US from the UK, which has been both a professional and personal journey I’m most grateful for. Thanks to a supportive environment and the chance to collaborate with fantastic colleagues here, I have grown into various leadership roles and made substantial strides in my professional journey while serving our business.
Q. Which project are you most proud of being involved in at Turner & Townsend?
A. Leading one of our largest global accounts has been incredibly rewarding and continually brings about new challenges and opportunities for me to learn. Our team are consistent innovators and I’m proud of how we collaborate across the country to support our client and provide tailored advice and solutions.
Q. Describe your typical day.
A. My role requires me to move between different modes of thinking, whether it be dealing with client requests, guiding my team on issues they are facing or strategic planning. Business development and growing our business' profile is important, so I’m often at events and engaging with current and prospective clients. My days are quite fast paced, but we make sure to celebrate the wins and address challenges together as a team.
Q. What do you most enjoy most about working at Turner & Townsend?
A. Our business is our people, and our strength is in our diversity. I enjoy working with my colleagues from across the US and our global business, as we all come from diverse backgrounds with a collective wealth of experience to share and learn from. This diversity extends to the phenomenal projects and programmes we transform together alongside some of the world's largest, most influential clients.
