As the Global Head of the Occupier and Retail sector within our real estate business, I support a diverse range of clients in delivering their real estate projects and programmes. Working with our global teams, I help our clients achieve better outcomes, develop our services to solve their biggest challenges and transform performance.

I began my career as a Cost Manager, starting at a large international contractor before moving into consulting. After passing my Assessment of Professional Competence and becoming a Chartered Surveyor, I relocated to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to gain international experience.

Working in the UAE also gave me the opportunity to move into broader corporate real estate roles and I returned to the UK in 2017 to join Turner & Townsend and lead a new programme with a British multinational bank.

Since joining our business, I have held a variety of responsibilities within our real estate team, including programme management and global account leadership roles for some of our largest global real estate clients, including an American multinational bank and a global natural resources firm. In 2022, I took up the role of Global Sector Lead for occupier and retail.

Q. What attracted you to join Turner & Townsend?

A. During the process of returning to the UK from the UAE, I initially planned to move away from consulting and into a client-side role. However, I was drawn to a leadership position that Turner & Townsend was advertising to lead a new programme with one of our largest clients. From my very first meeting with the Turner & Townsend team, I knew the people, culture, global scale and remarkable client list would make it a great fit for me.

Q. Which project are you most proud of being involved in at Turner & Townsend?

A. I am most proud of our work with a multinational natural resources firm, where we have developed a deep and trusted partnership with our client, allowing us to bring out the best of our people and business.

Working together globally, we have set a new collaborative standard that has seen us deliver major projects from the Hague to Houston. This has also put us at the forefront of our industry in developing a net-zero programme, and allowed us to transform performance of our client’s global capital investment programme.

Q. Detail any specialist skills or experience for which you are known

A. Setting up real estate programmes and strategies for major corporate clients.

Q. Describe your typical day.

A. Working in a global sector lead role allows me to get involved in a wide range of activities and interact with people all around the world, which I find quite rewarding. Many of my days consist of meeting clients, working with colleagues to help develop delivery solutions, supporting new business opportunities, setting new standards for service excellence, and mentoring talent in our business to prepare the next generation of leaders.

Q. What do you most enjoy most about working at Turner & Townsend?

A. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have a role that allows me to bring the full extent of my knowledge and experience to work, which is truly fulfilling. I also appreciate the opportunity to continuously learn from collaborating with fantastic colleagues in our business, working with great clients, and making the difference on a wide range of projects and programme worldwide.

Q. What is the emerging trend in your industry specialism and how are you responding to this?

A. Developing real estate strategies has become more complex for corporate occupiers, as delivery of capital projects now encompasses a range of new and emerging challenges. These include defining the workplace of the future, meeting net-zero goals, creating inclusive workplaces, and embracing digitisation. Our clients are facing a growing need to demonstrate value, which is reshaping organisations and the places in which they live, work and play.

This means we’re helping our clients build a 'next generation approach’ to delivering their real estate programmes globally. We do this by developing strategies that help transform the performance of their capital delivery and achieve multiple priorities simultaneously.

Q. How do you see your career progressing at Turner & Townsend?

A. I am confident that I can achieve great things at Turner & Townsend. My career has progressed at an incredibly rapid and exciting pace, and from where I am now as a Global Sector Lead, I still see more opportunity ahead of me to continue growing on this professional path.
