Mozambique is home to some of the world’s largest gas and coal reserves. The country has immense potential for development. Improvement in the country’s infrastructure is also much needed and has the potential to accelerate economic growth. 

Currently Mozambique is heavily reliant on overseas investment to realise essential large-scale projects to build and repair roads, expand harbours and rehabilitate railways. The government is now looking to optimise infrastructure investment by focusing on key growth areas. One example is the Maputo Development Corridor, the trade and transportation route connecting South Africa’s eastern provinces with Mozambique’s port capital. This is considered one of the most well-developed and successful corridors in sub-Saharan Africa,  generating local economic development.
