Turner & Townsend appointed by New York's MTA Construction and Development Company to deliver project controls
North America’s largest Transportation Network, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), serves a population of 15.3 million people spanning 5,000 square miles covering the Southern Eastern New York State, New York City, Long Island, and Connecticut. MTA’s network includes America’s largest bus network, and more subway and commuter rail fleet than all other US transit systems combined.
Turner & Townsend's US infrastructure team has been appointed to lead and establish project and performance controls capability across MTA Construction and Development Company’s (C&D) capital improvement programme.
The global professional services company will serve as an integral member and extension of MTA C&D’s delivery department team as it plans, rebuilds, improves, and expands the extensive network of subway, bus, commuter rail, bridge and tunnel infrastructure within New York City and its surrounding areas.
Turner & Townsend's work will also help support the core transport network in New York City to sustain its position as the US state with the lowest carbon footprint overall. This win extends its contributions to major programs in New York State’s transportation and infrastructure sector including the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project.
Chris McAtasney, Vice President, Turner & Townsend, US Infrastructure, comments:
We are excited to be working with MTA C&D to support the development of their project controls function and help improve the delivery of their projects. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to bring our global experience and expertise in project controls to the New York market in a meaningful way.
