Appointed to Greater London Authority local energy framework

We have been appointed as a key supplier to a new national programme that will support the design and development of sustainable power generation capability and transmission networks across the UK. This Local Energy Consultancy Services framework will be run by the Greater London Authority (GLA).

As a key supplier, we will provide a variety of specialist technical, commercial, financial and project management services that help contracting bodies develop, procure and bring into operation low-carbon and zero-carbon decentralised energy schemes that deliver significant CO2 reductions at market-competitive prices.

This appointment is to a four-year framework having gone live at the beginning of April 2022. The framework will be open to a range of public and private organisations including the GLA group, local authorities across the country, NHS trusts, housing associations, educational establishments and companies from The Crown Estate to Crossrail and HS2.

This appointment builds on our ongoing decarbonisation support for the GLA across the three ‘accelerators’ – for retrofitting buildings, homes, and providing green energy systems - which aim to bring about a commercial market for sustainable retrofit and energy provision and deliver real progress.

The Local Energy Accelerator for instance, in partnership with Buro Happold, supports the provision of low-carbon, district energy networks across London to help achieve the capital’s goal of net zero by 2030.

Richard McWilliams, Director of Sustainability, said: “New low-carbon and zero-carbon energy networks are at the centre of achieving the UK’s net-zero goals, and our appointment on this framework will enable the better provision of comprehensive end-to-end support to drive the scale and pace of decarbonisation.

As a national framework building on our long relationship with the GLA and other decarbonisation partners, it will help to give easy access to our specialist project management, commercial and multi-disciplinary expertise to define and develop schemes.

"As well as making progress towards net zero, this will in turn create major additional social value benefits around job creation, air quality and economic development, and will support the development of a resilient energy system that is ready for the low-carbon transition.”
