Associated British Ports’ Group Professional Services Framework appointment

Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK-based ports operator, has appointed us to provide project support services across its portfolio of 21 UK locations.

We will join Lot 1 of ABP’s Group Professional Services Framework, providing a series of workstreams including project management, project controls, quantity surveying, scheduling and site supervision.

ABP’s operations cover around a quarter of the nation’s seaborne trade and one of the UK’s busiest rail terminals at Hams Hall in the Midlands. The partnership will support the delivery of both capital and maintenance projects across ABP’s portfolio. The total value of the framework is estimated at £40m over the course of the four year term.

The new appointment builds on our existing work for ABP, which includes the provision of cost, commercial and project controls advice in connection with the Wales and Short Sea Ports facilities. We also bring our wider maritime sector expertise from across the UK through our work for the Port of Tyne, Peel Ports, Aberdeen Harbour Board’s New South Harbour, Argyll & Bute Council’s Craignure Pier development, and our involvement with regional authorities to work towards Freeport status.

Steven Adcock, Framework Director, said: “This appointment brings a further opportunity for us to leverage our expertise across an increasingly complex and demanding infrastructure sector. Maritime sector business owners and operators have a critical role to play in boosting regional economies and realising ‘levelling up’ agenda objectives, supporting not only existing trade but opening up new trade opportunities for emerging industries.

ABP is playing a key role investing in the UK’s global supply chains which are at the heart of our economic recovery, while also committing to a comprehensive transition to net zero for the industry. We are closely aligned with these objectives, and having worked with ABP on Wales and Short Sea Ports projects, we now look forward to bringing our experience and enthusiasm to bear during the development and delivery of major projects.
