Australia celebrates four wins at the national Project Management Achievement Awards
Building on our success at the state Project Management Achievement Awards, our Australia team has won four awards at the national Project Management Achievement Awards.
Hosted by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), the Project Management Achievement Awards (PMAAs) recognise, honour and promote outstanding achievements in programme and project leadership across Australia.
With five of our award submissions shortlisted by the judges for the national awards, the winning projects and people were:
- Programme Management Office (PMO) – Inland Rail
- Construction/Engineering – Collins Place
- Community Development – Melbourne City Mission Hester Hornbrook Academy
- Future Project Leader – Tarini Pathak, Project Manager
The winning projects and people
Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that will enhance agricultural and retail supply chains between inland Australia, major cities and ports by unlocking economic value through upgrading capacity in selected brownfield areas and creating new infrastructure in missing links. Ultimately to make rail the preferred choice for freight transport. We were appointed by ARTC as PMO provider, to improve existing internal PMO services, enhance reporting and assurance on project and programme controls. Our PMO team is supported by global professional services firm SNC-Lavalin.
Collins Place is an enduring Melbourne landmark. In 2017, most of the building services infrastructure at Collins Place was identified as beyond its operational life, inefficient and in need of replacement. As the external project manager, on behalf of AMP Capital, we are creating a better future by delivering an AU$100M+ ten-year capital works programme to upgrade equipment including; critical life safety services, electrical switchboards, mechanical and electrical equipment. The completed upgrades have increased the sustainability and efficiency of the site, all while maintaining occupancy with little to no disruption to tenants.
Run by Melbourne City Mission (MCM), the Hester Hornbrook Academy (HHA) is an independent school that provides an alternative approach to education for young people. We have built a strong relationship with MCM, supporting their projects since 2018. This includes successfully project managing the HHA Sunshine facility from inception through to completion. The HHA is MCM’s most ambitious to date and the support of our team was able to ensure greater results for Melbourne’s disadvantaged youths.
Tarini Pathak has worked as a project manager for the last eight years and is currently delivering cultural and civic centre and school upgrade projects in New South Wales. She has brought her strong design and stakeholder management skills, alongside outstanding negotiation abilities, to a range of projects from small refurbishment projects to large new build projects. In addition to being an outstanding project manager, Tarini’s recognition as a future project leader highlights the talent that a more diverse and more inclusive construction industry can benefit from.
