Australia celebrates four wins at the state Project Management Achievement Awards
Our Australia team has won four awards at the state 2022 Project Management Achievement Awards, and we have now been shortlisted in these categories at a national level.
The Project Management Achievement Awards (PMAAs) are hosted by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), with state and national events to recognise, honour and promote outstanding achievements in programme and project leadership across Australia.
Seven people and projects from our Australia team were considered by the judges for state awards with the winners being:
- Government Project (New South Wales) – TAFE NSW – Connected Learning Points Programme
- Government Project (South Australia) – SAFECOM Accommodation Project
- Sustainable Project (Victoria) – Glenroy Community Hub
- Future Project Leader (Victoria) – Andy Mekhail
The winning state awards will now be shortlisted for the national AIPM PMAA’s in March 2023.
The winning projects and people
TAFE NSW is the leading provider of vocational education and training in Australia. We were appointed as project managers for the Connected Learning Points Programme to improve access to education for students located in regional New South Wales via modern technology. We enabled the delivery of 203 classrooms across 101 TAFE NSW campuses and have upgraded teaching assets and infrastructure for 26 specialist areas across these campuses.
The SAFECOM Accommodation Project was designed to achieve a bespoke and fit-for-purpose fit-out to support future ways of working, with an emphasis on achieving greater operational efficiency and flexibility. We were appointed as project managers to deliver this new, sustainable and modern building which has achieved 5 Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
Moreland City Council commissioned Glenroy Community Hub, Australia’s first passive house-certified community centre. The $31m Hub features a library, customer service centre, children’s centre, and a range of community services, along with new public art and a garden. We were appointed as project managers from project initiation through to project close.
Andy Mekhail is responsible for successfully leading and managing major complex commercial and health projects in Victoria. He has consistently exhibited excellence through leadership and management of projects from all phases through design, tender, early contractor involvement, design finalisation, and construction. Andy is passionate about making a positive impact on his clients and communities and he transfers his sector knowledge and lessons learnt to his team to continually drive better outcomes.
