Turner & Townsend strengthens global energy and natural resources offer with a new leadership appointment in the Middle East
Turner & Townsend has appointed Dr Tarek Hamade to lead its energy and natural resources business in the Middle East, further strengthening the company's clean energy, transmission, conventional and low carbon, and mining capability.
Tarek will lead the expansion of Turner & Townsend's offer across the Middle East, drawing on his 20-years of experience delivering complex programmes in the renewables, conventional energy, industrial, water and mining industries.
Historically associated with its natural reserves of oil, the Middle East is also a region with extensive natural resources that can be harnessed for generating renewable energy. In line with the pledges made at COP 28, and as demand for the commodities and electrical infrastructure to power the clean energy transition accelerates, there are significant new opportunities for growth.
Based in Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Tarek will support project strategy, set up and delivery for both national and global clients across the region. With his expertise and experience spanning the USA, Canada and the Middle East, he brings a global perspective to support Turner & Townsend's energy and natural resources clients.
Tarek has a PhD in Mining and Materials Engineering and an MBA in Finance and Management. He is a registered Professional Engineer and brings extensive experience in managing major projects throughout the studies, design, and construction phases. He joins Turner & Townsend following nine years with Wood in KSA and four years with Amec Foster Wheeler in Canada. He benefits from a thorough understanding of the ongoing investment portfolios of major players in KSA and wider Middle East markets.
