Turner & Townsend supports Thames Water to safeguard water resources in the Southeast

In partnership with Laing O’Rourke Delivery Limited and Nichols Group, Turner & Townsend has been appointed to provide professional programme management and controls services to Thames Water in support of the development and delivery of its Strategic Resources Options (SRO) Programme.

This appointment follows a comprehensive procurement exercise undertaken as a call-off from Thames Water’s recently awarded FA2051 Programme Partner Framework.

The global professional services company will be supporting the development of Thames Water’s new water supply schemes to safeguard water sources in the Southeast. The programme includes a number of new water resource focused schemes such as a new reservoir in Oxfordshire, and the Teddington Direct River Abstraction project to secure future water supplies for 15 million customers across the Southeast.

Turner & Townsend's teams of experts will provide programme and project controls, organisational planning and performance, governance secretariat, assurance and quality, and performance improvement.

Mohit Farmah, Head of Procurement and Supply Chain at Thames Water said:

The programme partner framework provides us with access to an expansive supply of programme management and controls professionals, who have a track-record of delivering major infrastructure projects and programmes.

“Turner & Townsend demonstrated extensive and highly relevant experience in developing and supporting Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. Access to world class industry experts is crucial as we work to protect future water supply for the generations to come.”

James Corrigan, Managing Director of Infrastructure, Turner & Townsend, UK, said:

The UK water industry faces significant challenges, including rising demands, extreme weather conditions and environmental regulations. Through this appointment we have the prime opportunity to assist Thames Water in the development of new water supplies to safeguard water provision in the southeast and wider UK water industry.

“In Partnership with Laing O’Rourke Delivery Limited and The Nichols Group Limited, we will leverage our collective global expertise to support Thames Water in achieving its long-term objectives for local community and environment.”
