Turner & Townsend joins Women in Nuclear’s Industry Charter to champion diversity in the UK nuclear sector
Turner & Townsend has become an official signatory of Women in Nuclear’s Industry Charter, which seeks to encourage the diversification of the UK nuclear industry.
Supported by over 60 organisations, Women in Nuclear (WiN) UK has developed an Industry Charter to ensure organisations take the necessary steps to improve gender balance.
In recent years, there has been an increased focus on the importance of diversifying the UK nuclear sector. For example WiN UK, in collaboration with Great British Nuclear, aims to increase the proportion of women in senior management from 13 percent to 30 percent by 2030.
By signing this charter, Turner & Townsend firmly declares its understanding of the importance of fostering, creating and maintaining an inclusive workforce. As a signatory, Turner & Townsend commits to:
- Recognising the need to promote a balanced view of the nuclear sector to attract more women to pursue a career in the nuclear sector.
- Review and remove potential barriers for women and under-represented groups’ entry into the company.
- Address unequal gender representation across the traditional occupational groups employed within the company.
- Provide clear career pathways accessible to all.
- Increase transparency of opportunities for development and progression to support the retention and career progression of women and other under-represented groups in the company.
Turner & Townsend is dedicated to forming partnerships with organisations that support its mission to become a more equal, diverse and inclusive company.
Charlotte Kelsey, UK Director said:
We are confident that our partnership with Women in Nuclear will be crucial to our efforts to promote diversity within our company and the broader nuclear industry.
“This sector can only thrive and reach its full potential with an equal and inclusive workforce.”
