Realising the vision
The IAH Terminal Redevelopment Program (ITRP) includes refurbishing the existing Terminal D and demolishing the Terminal D/E parking garage. The refurbishment will create a state-of-the-art international terminal central processing hub comprising of ticketing counters, security checkpoint lanes and baggage claim area.
The terminal’s new design incorporates the latest self-bag drop and boarding gate technologies. The International Terminal Complex will support IAH international flight operations for more than a dozen airlines. Additional gates will accommodate continued international airline growth and larger widebody aircraft, as well as significantly improve the overall passenger experience.
Transforming a terminal
We are providing executive programme management services to the project as an extension of the HAS executive team, including programme level leadership for all phases of the programme lifecycle, from development through to design and construction. The ITRP is the most significant expansion project ever undertaken by HAS and is playing a major role in supporting the growth and development of the fourth largest city in the USA.
Sustainability and improved user experience
The project supports sustainability targets set by HAS and has involved construction that follows the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver-rating specifications. Environmentally sustainable materials have been used throughout the build and fit-out, including the recycling of significant amounts of the demolished parking structure and concourse. The terminal’s redevelopment will significantly improve customer experience and on completion will support flight operations for more than 12 international airlines.
