A transformation to cleaner fuels

Santos’ operations globally are undergoing a transformation to enable decarbonisation and the production of cleaner fuels.

The programme of decarbonisation includes operational efficiencies, electrification and renewables integration, deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon solutions including nature based offset projects and direct air capture (DAC) technologies.

In leveraging these technologies, Santos will lay the foundations for producing clean fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia.

Applying major project execution best practice

We are supporting decarbonisation projects across Santos’ midstream and clean fuels portfolio. This includes onshore and offshore carbon capture and storage, upstream electrification, renewables integration and hydrogen/ammonia.

Our multi-discipline services include procurement, contract services, and project controls including schedule, cost, risk and reporting disciplines, helping projects achieve the requisite amount of front-end loading to progress through the stage gate process and meet investment criteria.

We have also helped to establish the procurement approach for major technology and engineering services contracts and provided support on the NEC4 Alliance Contract being applied on the CCS project.

Supporting a sustainable and just transition

Santos is committed to ensuring a sustainable and just transition for its workforce and the communities where it operates.

In leveraging existing infrastructure and the skills and experience built over decades of oil and gas production, the company will extend the life of its assets, making them more sustainable, providing ongoing jobs and business opportunities, and building new capability in decarbonisation, cleaner energy and clean fuels.
