Project overview

Securing vital energy supply

TenneT is responsible for delivering the SuedOstLink underground cable lines throughout Bavaria. The line is a key piece of infrastructure integral to Germany’s broader strategy to attain climate neutrality by 2045. The implementation of the cables will facilitate the transfer of wind-generated power from the country’s northern regions to its southern industrial zones, aligning with the gradual decommissioning of traditional power plants across Germany.

Project STORY

A coordinated approach

Maintaining programme milestones and ensuring high performance from the supply chain is crucial to delivering the SuedOstLink project. Since 2023, we have been providing project management support to TenneT for the construction of the 270km southern section of the SuedOstLink.

To realise critical pre-construction activity, our team is establishing the necessary people, systems, insight and digital tools. This included setting up standard operating procedures for both the construction and the approvals phase, with defined workflows and clear roles and responsibilities for all parties involved.

We are also actively involved in the development of the integrated systems setup to achieve a 'single source of truth' for data management. Looking ahead, we will support TenneT with schedule assurance and reporting, providing critical insight into the progress of the cable installation sequences and early warnings on issues that may affect the schedule.

Our combined services will ensure greater visibility and a coordinated approach, helping TenneT meet their obligations to provide renewable and reliable electricity to power homes and industry in Germany.

Delivering green power across the country

The largest of Germany’s three power 'corridor’ projects, the SuedOstLink is expected to provide four gigawatts of electricity to around 10 million households per year. The project’s economic benefits also include generating local jobs throughout both the construction and maintenance phases of the development.
