Supporting the sustainable expansion of Dublin Airport with daa

Driving sustainable expansion

In 2023, we were appointed as daa’s Integrated Delivery Partner (IDP) on a five-year framework. We will support the ongoing delivery of its Capital Investment Programme (CIP) for Dublin Airport.

The CIP will drive the sustainable development of Dublin Airport as an international hub, ensuring its capacity to connect Ireland to existing and emerging global markets. The programme will also increase passenger capacity to accommodate up to 40 million passengers per year.

Creating a ‘one team’ approach

We are working with daa to provide full ongoing support across cost and commercial management, in addition to providing a range of technical services.

A significant objective for daa is the provision and mobilisation of resources across infrastructure project teams at Dublin Airport. Our role as IDP supports this through collaborative working and a ‘one team’ approach.

Maintaining a commitment to sustainability and society

daa is committed to sustainable development. Its plans for Dublin Airport include increasing the electric charging network facilities, installing LED upgrades to terminal buildings, and providing cycle ports, electric buses and PhotoVoltaic solar power.

Many other planned projects within the CIP have a sustainability focus and will reduce the airport’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 (aligned with the National Public Sector 2030 targets). This will contribute to the company’s net-zero 2050 ambition.

Dublin Airport’s expansion will leave a legacy of more sustainable transport options for passengers, including enhanced public transport access to the airport and the proposed MetroLink II rail project.

In 2022, an estimated 116,000 jobs were generated by Dublin airport, with over 17,000 based in the local community. By 2030, the total number of jobs is projected to reach over 150,000. The construction phase for additional infrastructure is also predicted to create more than 2,300 jobs.
