Press release
NUVIA UK, working in partnership with global professional services company, Turner & Townsend, has been appointed as Tier 1 supplier across all lots of the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s (UKAEA) JET Decommissioning and Repurposing (JDR) multi-supplier Management Framework.
This four-year appointment will support UKAEA’s mission to accelerate progress toward sustainable fusion energy.
The UKAEA JET Decommissioning and Repurposing (JDR) programme is a long-term initiative to safely decommission the Joint European Torus (JET) fusion energy research facility and prepare key infrastructure for future use.
The JDR programme will help define the full lifecycle of a fusion power plant, from construction through to end‑of‑life. By developing and proving new technologies and approaches, it will also strengthen the UK’s position in future global fusion markets and stimulate inward investment across the decommissioning, engineering and advanced technology supply chains.
Under the framework, NUVIA and Turner & Townsend will work together to provide a fully integrated programme of Skilled, Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) and specialist support across UKAEA’s programme and operational requirements.
Combining NUVIA’s engineering, environment and waste management expertise with Turner & Townsend’s strengths in project controls, cost and commercial management, data and knowledge information management, logistics and assurance, the partnership will deliver across the JET decommissioning programme. This joined-up approach will support programme delivery, improve decision‑making and keep strong assurance in place as the JDR moves forward.
“We are delighted to be able to support UKAEA on the next step of the journey for the JET facility, supported by the team at Turner & Townsend.
“We look forward to being able to provide the specialist skills, team and culture that will enable the next tranche of works to progress.
“The UKAEA is a long-term client of NUVIA and we are proud to be able to continue working alongside them on this key project for the coming years”

“We’re pleased to be supporting UKAEA as it takes this important step in the long‑term plan for JET.
“Working alongside NUVIA, we’ll bring the programme controls, data-led insight and specialist delivery support to help UKAEA achieve its long-term decommissioning objectives.
“By combining our project leadership capability with NUVIA’s engineering strength, we are committed to delivering a robust, well-governed programme that contributes to the UK’s ambitions for sustainable fusion energy and wider societal benefit.”
