Reappointed to deliver vital retrofitting of UK’s housing stock

Turner & Townsend has been successfully reappointed as the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero’s (DESNZ’s) Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) – supporting the delivery of the government’s future retrofit funding for fuel-poor, low-income households.

As part of the new £26.6m contract Turner & Townsend will continue to support local authorities, housing associations, and other eligible organisations to access multi-billion-pound government schemes targeted at retrofitting both social housing, through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), as well as fuel poor owner-occupier and private-rented households.  

The award allows the company to build on its successful delivery of government-backed initiatives, the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator and Home Upgrade Hub.

Not only will Turner & Townsend continue to provide programme management and advisory services to local authorities and housing associations to help them unlock domestic and non-domestic retrofit funding, the company will also help to develop practical resources to upskill the retrofit supply chain and create a knowledge hub to help deliver this decarbonisation of the UK’s housing stock at scale and pace.  

Working in partnership with DESNZ, the new TAF programme will continue to help the government to create warmer, healthier, more sustainable homes – reducing fuel poverty, energy demand and carbon emissions.
